George W. Bush and his gang of neocon warmongers have destroyed America's reputation. It is likely to stay destroyed, because at this point the only way to restore America's reputation would be to impeach and convict President Bush for intentionally deceiving Congress and the American people in order to start a war of aggression against a country that posed no threat to the U.S. America can redeem itself only by holding Bush accountable.

As intent as Republicans were to impeach President Clinton for lying about a sexual affair, they have a blind eye for President Bush's far more serious lies. Bush's lies have caused the deaths of tens of thousands of people, injured and maimed tens of thousands more, devastated a country, destroyed America's reputation, caused one billion Muslims to hate America, ruined our alliances with Europe, created a police state at home, and squandered $300 billion and counting.

America's reputation is so damaged that not even our puppets can stand the heat. Anti-American riots, which have left Afghan cities and towns in flames and hospitals overflowing with casualties, have forced Bush's Afghan puppet, "President" Hamid Karzai, to assert his independence from his U.S. overlords. In a belated act of sovereignty, Karzai asserted authority over heavy-handed U.S. troops whose brutal and stupid ways sparked the devastating riots. Karzai demanded control of U.S. military activities in Afghanistan and called for the return of the Afghan detainees who are being held at the U.S. prison in Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

Abundant evidence now exists in the public domain to convict George W. Bush of the crime of the century. The secret British government memo (dated July 23, 2002) leaked to the Sunday Times (May 1, 2005) reports that Bush wanted "to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy. … But the case was thin. Saddam was not threatening his neighbors, and his WMD capability was less than that of Libya, North Korea or Iran. … The [UK] Attorney-General said that the desire for regime change was not a legal base for military action. There were three possible legal bases: self-defense, humanitarian intervention, or UNSC authorization. The first and second could not be the base in this case. Relying on UNSCR 1205 of three years ago would be difficult."

This memo is the mother of all smoking guns.

James Dobson's "Supernanny" Ad, a history in Letters

To: Deanna Banas Kluk, Director of Programming, WTNH-TV New Haven, CT

Deanna:
The following letter has been forwarded to the Federal
Communications Commission...

Commissioner:
Last night, WTNH-TV Channel 8 in New Haven, CT broadcast the ABC Show,
"Supernanny", a broadcast which contained a paid advertisement from the
group "Focus on the Family", promoting, among other things, a book by Dr.
James Dobson entitled "Dare to Discipline".

I find it both patently offensive and tragically ironic that WTNH, as an
ABC affiliate, can along with its network in blocking an ad from the
United Church of Christ last promoting universal tolerance, and a few
months later, refuse to block an ad from "Focus on the Family" promoting
child abuse. The book, Dare to Discipline contains instructions for the
corporal punishment of children, such as...

"Minor pain can provide excellent motivation for the child. There is a
muscle, lying snugly against the base of the neck. When firmly squeezed,
it sends little messengers to the brain saying, 'This hurts; avoid
recurrence at all costs."

Here, Dobson is advocating piching off the arteries providing blood to the
child's brain, causing pain, as well possible fainting and brain damage.

I contend that allowing the public airwaves to be used to sell torture
manuals of this nature to parents for use against children constitues
indecency, and a gross violation of the public interest and necessity. I
recommend that WTNH, "Focus on the Family",and the Walt Disney Corporation
be fined for this violation.

MY RESPONSE TO HER...

Hi, Deanna:

Thanks for responding to my concerns so quickly. I have to disagree with your point somewhat, though. There have been recent occurrances where affiliates have voluntarily pre-empted network programing on grounds of ethics, providing a better service to their viewers, or of bowing to political and economic pressure. The examples that come most recently to mind concern the ABC Affiliates belonging to Sinclair Broadcasting pre-empting "Nightline" last July, (happily, not WTNH), 6 ABC Affiliates refusing to Run "Saving Private Ryan" last Veterans Day, (again happily not WTNH), and the refusal of the UCC spot I mentioned in my original letter.

My point is that it is, (though a bold and possibly costly move), POSSIBLE to make a stand for broadcasting in the greater public interest by resisting the urge to run unbalanced political and religious, (and as I've cited, possibly dangerous), christo-fascist propoganda such as Dobson's. ABC affiliates have made similar moves recently to benefit right-wing interests and have an ethical, (though sadly no longer regulatory), responsibility to do so for the other, far larger part of your viewing audience.
